What is Arbalest Hub?

Our workshops for ages 8 to 17 (and adults) focus on building medieval siege engines, metal crafts, and wood crafts. We emphasize historical context, engineering principles, and safety for a rewarding, educational experience. Workshop location is Alameda, CA.

Copper work

This two day workshop will leave you with the skills to hammer copper into a beautiful work of functional art. Plus you'll go home with an awesome copper coffee scoop!

Siege Engines

This ten week course has you researching plans for three historic siege engines; The Ballista, The Catapult, and The Trebuchet as we explore a variety of engineering principals to plan, build models, then scale up to full size builds!

Twisted Steel

In this workshop you'll learn to make a traditional Celtic Torc in miniature. Its bracelet!

Chainmail Armor

Learn to build chainmail in the one day workshop.

10 week metals

We meet once a week for ten weeks and dive head first into forging, welding, grinding our way to a start in understanding of the metal arts.

(prerequisite for advanced projects)

Plate Armor

This workshop is an ongoing pay by class

in making historic armor pieces. Build one or two pieces, or a whole suit of armor.

Crossbow Making

This ten week course has you crafting a functional medieval crossbow!
